DAY
1.-
Departure from your native country and arrival to JORGE
CHAVEZ INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT in LIMA, PERU, transfer
to "MUNDO Hotel", located in the district
of MIRAFLORES and meeting with the organizing company.
DAY
2.- Departure from the Hotel on the private
bus to the nearest North of PERU, where we can see the
economical activity of this part of the city going through
MIRAFLORES and SAN ISIDRO which have the privilege of
having a high economical activity such as private stores
and commercial banks. Along our way we will be able
to descry the poverty of the people who live either
in towns or downtown whose houses are expanding to the
surrounding hills, it is well known that poverty exists
in many places. Keeping along the trip we will pass
through many provinces of the Peruvian coast which keep
historical and cultural riches of our ancestors. Going
on the border of the PACIFIC OCEAN we will get to BARRANCA,
district of PATIVILCA from where we will go through
VALLE DE FORTALEZA(Fortress Valley) to CHISQUI TAMBO
town, then the trip continues going up to EL PASO DE
CONOCOCHA at 4100 meters over sea level. From this point
it is possible to see the range of CORDILLERA BLANCA
and HUAYHUASH. Then we descend North to PORTICO DE CALLEJON
DE HUYLAS district of CATAC, RECUEY and finally to HUARAZ
city traveling 410 kilometers.
DAY
3.- HUARAZ the capital of Andinism at 3090
meters over sea level. Rest for people who come from
the coast and other countries for adventure tourism.
In the afternoon a walk will take place around the view
point of HUARAZ city, RATAQUENUA an appropriate place
for watching the sunset at CORDILLERA BLANCA.
DAY
4.- HUARAZ – CASHAPAMPA. Departure from
HUARAZ to the valley of CALLEJON DE HUAYLAS passing
through the provinces of CARHUAZ, YUNGAY and CARAZ.
During the trip we may descry the natural disaster which
took place in May 1970, and how several towns were completely
buried. As a proof, we find the old town of YUNGAY that
was buried by an avalanche of NEVADO HUASCARAN. Nowadays,
it is known as the Holly Field of YUNGAY. Keeping along
the trip we get to the province of CARAZ, from where
we will depart on a ballasted road until we get to CASHAPAMPA
town at 2900 meters over sea level.
DAY
5.- CASHAPAMPA – ICHICOCHA Lake. Being
the first day of journey, we should wear hats and caps
in order to be protected from the sunlight. At the beginning
of the route we will trek by a narrow ravine on the
right side of the river and then go up a zigzag way.
We will see SANTA CRUZ ravine, after that, we just keep
on going along the right side of YURAQMAYU river. Throughout
the trek we will be able to see many kinds of vegetation
and some native Peruvian animals from the Andes. Later
we get to ICHICOCHA lake where we will camp. 6 hour
journey.
DAY
6.- ICHICOCHA Lake – TAULLIPAMPA. Marching
on to TAULLIPAMPA camp, we will also pass through the
river side on a path visibly marked, getting to JATUNCOCHA
lake where we may see wild birds and the beautiful green
fields of the Andes. Keeping along the tour we will
get to our point, which is on the route to ARHUAYCOCHA
base camp. Now we are near the most beautiful NEVADO
of the world, called ALPAMAYO at 5947 meters over sea
level, and also near other important mountains of CORDILLERA
BLANCA such as QUITARAJU 6040 meters, TALLIRAJU 5830
meters, ARTESONRAJU 6025 meters and others. 6 hour journey.
DAY
7.- TAULLIPAMPA – PASO DE PUNTA UNION
4750 meters over sea level. On this day we will go trough
the first PASO of our trek, the PASO is known as PUNTA
UNION which is at 4750 meters over sea level. From this
place we can descry the whole valley of SANTA CRUZ,
the valley of PARIA and the valley of HUARIPAMPA, from
here we can also descry the mountains mentioned above,
TAULLICOCHA lake and others that encircle the valley
of SANTA CRUZ. Then we descend to the valley of PARIA
passing through an area which is full of Andean trees
such as the QUINAL and others and so, we get to the
camp where we will stay. Then we make some observations
about our acclimatization trek. 6 to 7 hour journey.
DAY
8.- CACHENA PAMPA – MOROCOCHA. We descend
on the left side of the river, and on our way we find
HUARIPAMPA and COLCABAMBA towns, later we also find
VAQUEIRA and the ballasted route that goes from YUNGAY
to YANAMA. From this town the trek continues on to the
second PASO by the route that links the towns of CALLEJON
DE CONCHUCOS. Then we get to MOROCOCHA lake where we
will camp. 6 hour journey.
DAY
9.- MOROCOCHA – QUEBRADA DE MANADA. Departure
to the second PASO which is known as PORTACHUELO DE
LLANGANUCO at 4767 meters over sea level, where we have
a beautiful panoramic view of LLANGANUCO valley and
its lakes such as ORCONCONCHA and CHINACONCHA lake,
and also the back side of the north of HUASCARAN 6687
meters, HUANDOY 6395 meters, CHOPICALQUI 6354 meters
and CHACRARAJU mountain 6112 meters over sea level.
After that, we will descend to QUEBRADA DE MANADA valley
and then camp in a place called CEBOLLA PAMPA. 6 hour
journey.
DAY
10.- SPARE DAY. This day has been programmed
to recovered energies and to get all the materials and
other things ready for the first climbing.
DAY
11.- Base Camp of NEVADO PISCO. Departure to
the base camp of NEVADO PISCO, we will trek a zigzag
way at the beginning of the route, and then follow the
same routine as usually. Throughout the day we will
watch the flora and fauna. The rhythm of the trek will
be slow in order to maintain the physical condition,
getting to the base camp of NEVADO mentioned about,
then we take a break at 4650 meters over sea level.
4 hour journey.
DAY
12.- BASE CAMP – CAMPO MORENA 4950 meters
over sea level. Coming out from the base camp to CAMPO
MORENA, we will have a quiet trek because of acclimatization.
Then continue on a path clearly marked for the climbers
who come and go, we may say that this part of the route
is very hard. Later we will a walk on split rocks caused
by the movements of the subterranean glacier. After
this we will ascend to CAMPO MORENA which is near the
glacier of NEVADO PISCO, we will enjoy the panoramic
view of NEVADO HUANDOY, HUASCARAN, YANAPACHA and part
of CHACCRAJU. We will spend the night of the acclimatization
in this place.6 hour journey.
DAY
13.- DEPARTURE DAY TO THE SUMMIT OF PISCO OESTE
5752 meters over sea level. Early departure from CAMPO
MORENA, we will get to the glacier where we begin our
acclimatization routine, which consists in physical
training and climbing techniques. The mountain is not
very hard to ascend and so, we get to the COL of NEVADO
PISCO and HUANDOY where we may have an amazing panoramic
view of mountains like ARTESONRAJU, PIRAMIDE and CARAZ.
From the COL we depart to the summit of NEVADO PISCO
OESTE, going up the mountain we may find some places
of 45o and 50 o where we will be required to use our
technical materials and also physical strength. After
passing this section we are near the summit of the acclimatization
mountain, then we descend to CAMPO MORENA where we take
a break, drink and eat some light food. Later we depart
to base camp. 12 hour journey.
DAY
14.- BASE CAMP – YUNGAY. We leave the
mountains behind and depart to CEBOLLA PAMPA where our
transportation is ready to take us throughout LLANGANUCO
valley and through ORONCOCHA and CHINACOCHA lakes. Down
below we find the control hut of THE NATIONAL PARK of
HUASCARAN, where our personal data will be written down,
then as we go on our journey we get to the city of YUNGAY,
next we go up to CARHUAZ town where we finally stay.
DAY
15.- YUNGAY – MUSHO – BASE CAMP
OF HUASCARAN at 4200 meters over sea level. Departure
on a private vehicle to MUSHO town, where we meet our
muleteers, later we get to the control of the NATIONAL
PARK OF HUASCARAN from where we continue walking quietly
through a zigzag way in some places. There is a lot
of vegetation as eucalyptus plantations all around our
way, then we get to the base camp of HUASCARAN in a
4 – 5 hour journey.
DAY
16.- BASE CAMP – CAMP 1 5550 meters over
sea level. Luggage and food will be carried over for
the rest of the day on the mountain The ascension is
by a rocky zone, so we must be very careful, on this
day we will make a reconnaissance of the route and the
hard part to ascend, which is known as CANALETA DEL
NEVADO HUASCARAN, then we go back to Base camp.
DAY
17.- SPARE DAY. On this day we take a break
and get the materials ready to be used either for ascending
or descending.
DAY
18.- BASE CAMP – CAMP 1. 5300 meters
over sea level. Since our energies are recovered, we
depart to Camp 1 walking very quietly with the luggage
on our backs, from this place we have a panoramic view
of the surrounding towns of the mountains, and of course,
the beautiful landscape of CORDILLERA NEGRA, we will
get to camp 1 through a glacier route in a 6 hour journey.
DAY
19.- CAMP 1 – CAMP II. 5950 meters over
sea level. On this day we will climb the most difficult
part of our tour, finding walls of 45º and some
other times 85º, we must cross this place very
quickly because some hunks of ice may fall down. In
many parts of the route there are big crevasses, so
we must be aware of this along the whole route. After
passing through the GARGANTA (throat) we will get to
the COL of HUASCARAN which is between the north and
south peaks, when reaching this place we will be able
to see the ascension routes. 6 to 7 hour journey.
DAY
20.- Departure Day to HUASCARAN Summit 6768
meters over sea level. Early departure form Camp II.
We will go up by a route some times selected randomly
for the reason that it is not clearly marked. Being
a very dominant mountain because of its height, deep
crevasses are found around, so we must be very careful
during the ascension. Marching on to our target –
the summit, we will climb some stretches of 35º
and 45 º. Once we got to the target, we will take
some pictures of our arrival to the summit of NEVADO
HUASCARAN which is at 6768 meters over sea level. Later
we will descend by the same route to Camp II, in an
11 to 12 hour journey.
DAY
21.- SPARE DAY. This is a very important day.
Slow acclimatization through some problems or bad weather.
A new ascension to NEVADO HUASCARAN will take place
again.
DAY
22.- DESCENT FROM CAMP II – BASE CAMP.
Being yet on the mountain, we will get up early in the
morning to have a hot drink and then pack our knapsacks
and other things, then we depart toward the CANALETA
DE HUASCARAN. We must be aware of some small parts of
ice which may fall down. Going down the mountain we
will have no problem on our march, after passing through
Camp 1 and CAMPO MORENA, we will arrive to the base
camp.
DAY
23.- BACK TO MUSHO – HUARAZ. On this
day we leave NEVADO HUASCARAN behind and descend to
MUSHO town where our transportation is waiting to take
us to HUARAZ city and to the hotel. In the afternoon
we say good bye to the guides, carriers and other people
who helped us during the tour.
DAY
24.- HUARAZ – LIMA. We say good bye to
HUARAZ city and depart to LIMA city, getting to "MUNDO
hotel".

25.- Back to your Country or other Destination.
